We woke to a beautiful sunrise, a perfect photo to wish Dean’s sister a happy birthday.

We lifted anchor and set sail to Mackay. We had a perfect 10-15kn NE with calm seas. Perfect sailing conditions. As the mainland come into sight we had to navigate around two ship anchorages. There were 12 ships in total waiting to be loaded with coal.

Once I was able to get phone coverage, I contacted Mackay marina and booked a berth for 3 nights. We arrived at 2pm, packed up Time Flies & headed for a shower. The tides in Mackay are up to 6m, which made walking up the ramp a big effort. This is a cyclone rated marina with a very big break water.

High Tide
We had a great dinner with Della-Rue having an “all you can eat” menu at the local Italian Restaurant. You could have as many pizza slices as you’d like and as much pasta. We decided to try all dishes offered at a great price of $25pp.
