I have fallen in love with Middle Percy, this place is beautiful. We decided to stay another couple of nights.

Today we had to try & get some phone/internet coverage. I use an App called Saftrx which is run by Vic & Qld coastguards. I input our destination & ETA before we leave, it then sends an SMS message to my emergency contact. I had set it when we left Rosslyn Bay but unfortunately we lost coverage before we got to Pearl Bay. I couldn’t turn it off so it informed the coast guard we were overdue. We walked up the track towards the homestead which is over 6kms away. We finally got coverage on Dean’s phone, with messages from the coastguard. I was able to tether my phone off Dean’s & turn the Saftrx off. We made a couple of phone calls to the coastguard & my brother Cam who is our emergency contact. I felt bad having them worry about us for over 2 days, but was thankful to know the App works. I have decided not to use it up here as there will be plenty of times we will lose coverage.

A perfect day for a beach day, we watched many boats arrive & leave. Another great evening with new & old friends while watching the sunset and a lovely dinner cooked by Dean on the fire. The sand flies are definitely around so repellent is a must.

Our final day we walked up to the homestead with Della-Rue. The walk was long but not too steep. We spotted a nanny goat & her kid and many butterflies and had a rest in the fairy garden. We took the short track down & saw a few billy goats.

Sundowners, another perfect sunset, coral trout on the fire & more sand fly bites ended our time at Middle Percy. Tomorrow we will head to Digby Island & then onto Mackay.
