Looks like we have no choice but
to enjoy marina life for a while. The next 4 days was going to blow 20-30kn
with 2m swell and waves. It’s always a great time to do any boat projects, blog
& video updates and to catch up with new & old friends.
It took us a couple of days to get
into our jobs, the wind was so frustrating. I couldn’t work out if I was cold
or hot. Poor Time Flies was at times healing over in her berth. So I decided we
needed to have a day off the boat and hired a car. We provisioned at the local shopping
centre, then did a run to Rockhampton to Dan Murphy’s. I really enjoyed the
driving.
As another boat had a hire car to,
we decided on a group dinner out in Yeppoon. It was suggested to head out to
Capricorn Resort which had a Japanese Restaurant – Tsuruya. We couldn’t believe
how dark & empty it was heading out. I wasn’t sure if we were heading in
the right direction, but Dean reassured me we were. It turns out the resort is
closed and the only thing there, is the restaurant & golf course. A very sad
sight. After a wrong turn we made it to the restaurant & were welcomed by a
couple of kangaroos, we had a lovely meal which we can highly recommend.
We joined King Billy 1 for a walk
up to the lookout. We were glad we stayed in the marina as the sea state was
not pretty. We also heard that a boat had come into trouble at Middle Percy.
The weather was finally starting
to calm down and looked very stable over the next week with 10-15kn NE for a
visit to Middle Percy Island, one of my must do islands.
