The weather was perfect for continuing on but Dean found some fold up bikes on Kogan for $142.00 each so we decided to order them, which meant waiting for them to be delivered. We were both also happy to have a rest and enjoy the warm weather with a couple of beach days and of course more boat projects to be done. The anchorage has a 10 day limit which was great.

Each day we did some form of exercise, being a walk, run or swim. We would take our shower soaps with us so we could have a cold shower & wash our hair after a swim. The water temperature was a little fresh at first but you got used to it. We went on a shopping trip to Maroochydore to buy some bike helmets, catching the bus & walking back along the beach track.

As the wind was picking up we decided to move into the marina for a week @ $42 per day. We like to anchor as much as possible but we do also enjoy spending time in a marina as life is easy, not having to get in & out of the dingy and also peace of mind of not dragging anchor or another boat dragging and hitting you. It also gives friends a chance to have a look at Time Flies.
Timing was perfect for a lovely catch up with my Step Into Life friends Geoff & Annette who are travelling in their OKA. We had a great lunch at the Surf Lifesaving Club & a BBQ dinner in the caravan park. It was great to see their set up and hear about their travels.

We also caught up with their son & my trainer David, his wife Tammie & son Zac. It’s lovely to have people take time out of their holiday to come visit. David gave Dean plenty of information on fishing, which will hopefully help us catch some dinner along the way.
The bikes finally arrived. We are trying not to have too much stuff on board but these were definitely a good choice. It’s amazing how much further you can go in a short amount of time. We have managed to store them in the V berth.

We had to now wait out the weather for crossing Wide Bay Bar. The bar is best crossed in calm conditions, any swell over 1.5m & winds above 15kn should be avoided. We had a window of 2 days, we chose to go on the 1st day, 1m swell & 10-15kn SW, perfect conditions. We also wanted to cross 2-3hrs after low tide which was 11am. This meant we had to leave Mooloolaba at midnight.
We had a thunderstorm around dinner time. The light show was amazing, Time Flies was swinging in all directions. We put the anchor alarm on and tried to get some rest before getting up at 11pm to reassess the weather & decide to go or not.
